Around 2013 I became obsessed with the space around photographs, and more importantly, owning and defining that space. I started sampling colors from images and then shrouding them in gradients of those colors, or layering photos over one another, or making transparent png files to float over someone else's. A lot of this was informed by looking at photos on tumblr and flickr; trying to not only make my images stand out, but again, define the space around them in a way independently from the medium by which they were being displayed.
